RE: M&S debuts X Factor Christmas ad
It pained me to watch it. Do we expect in years to come people will talk of how spectacular an M&S ad it was, when they're a bunch of people nobody will remember? Will they re-edit it as people drop out? And will people who don't watch x factor care or even notice? It feels to me like the TV was promoting itself, via x factor. M&S were simply a cohort in the TVs attempt to tell me "look how good television \(still) is, you could watch these people sing!" If this enters into the audiences consciousness, it will be as an x factor ad, I doubt as an M&S ad.* \(*Admittedly, I write this with a slightly biased opinion against the evils of the lame singing competition that is x factor)
