RE: Newspaper publishers rally against BBC plans for mobile apps
Is the NPA serious or do they just not understand iPhones and their users? You can currently access BBC content via the Safari browser - surely that can't be an issue? All the app does is pull in that same content into a quick, user-friendly interface. Consumers will still have a choice of which app to download and they'll make that choice on brand preference & content as they do now, so what the press should be doing is ensuring their content available is the most recent and relevant and their brand remains respected so consumers actually want to download and use their app instead \(or as well, because the beauty of the iphone is you never have to restrict yourself to only 1 app in each category).
RE: Campaign video - Internet audience measurement lacks consistency, users say
I totally agree to the lack of consistency accross markets and countries. I'm of the opinion and it's a real obvious one, that people will seek whatever makes their figures stack up better against their competition. And more so, that people don't know there are industry agreed metrics in place that have been agreed/developed by jicwebs for several years and supported by industry bodies such ISBA, IPA, AOP, NPA etc...it's all there, but again it comes down to people adopting them as a way of developing level, confusion free playing fields. If as you say and the report states, everyone compared apples with apples, life would be far simpler. The standards are there to do this...i fear people choose not to use them for their own gain and again as you pointed out, peoples lack of understanding.
