RE: Microsoft attempts to woo app developers with new Windows Store
You mention a Windows 7 \(a desktop OS) marketplace, I believe this exists and you may be referring to a Windows Phone Marketplace as you are comparing it to iTunes and Android Marketplace, in this context they are all Mobile Phone App Marketplaces. This is quite different from OS Apps and Marketing Places for these. You need to compare apples with apples, and the Mac App Store is the direct competitor to the Windows Marketplace. Additionally you could consider the Chrome App Store a direct competitor. Of course there will be overlap in the future, but to say the "app store for Windows 7 devices... has yet to gain traction" is simply not true as it does not exist.

RE: Microsoft ads showcase social impact of Kinect
Brilliant ad. Microsoft really is trying to emphasise the technology and its brand image by showing unchartered possibilities of the product outside of its original purpose \(gaming and entertainment). Although reminiscent of Apple's iPad ads, which showed how its technology has changed the way we do things, this Kinect creative takes it a step further, with a more inspirational tone.

RE: Microsoft rolls out 'real-life' ad for Windows 7 PCs
I don't like it. The concept is ok; it should allow MS to demo a large number of product benefits. Instead it shows a few features, none of which are compelling reasons to upgrade. This should be a real 'pull' sell, based on cutting edge tech, not a push led message based on a needing to upgrade a 4 year old machine. Which, to be honest, should be adequate for most uses.
