RE: Branson puts ethics at core of Virgin bank plan
Sir Richard's sentiment is good, but I think he needs to clarify exactly what he means by ethics. Will this be another initiative like NatWest's customer charter, or will Virgin Money be brave enough to go further than that and really reinvent banking as we know it? The financial services meltdown coupled with high-profile cases of hidden charges haven't done the sector any favours at all. And customers are now beginning to demand more transparency in the way they are charged for banking. I hope that Virgin Money's ethical banking will involve innovative new ways of structuring and paying for financial services. But the big question is, are customers really mature enough to understand that nothing comes for free.

RE: ISBA and IPA initiative aims to clarify pitching
A great and long-overdue initiative. Particularly interesting is the disconnect between what advertising agencies think they spend per pitch and what they actually spend. Same goes for PR firms. 50 hours is the average time investment for each new business pitch, according to research I've seen. Do the maths based on hourly charge out rate of senior people!
