RE: Radio chief calls for digital switchover date to be scrapped
Digital listening may be low according to Rajar but when you look at the number of households that actually possess a DAB Radio so could listen to digital channels it is slightly more encouraging. According to figures from The British Population Survey in 2010 24.64% of households have a DAB Digital radio. This is up from 18.86% in 2008 and 22.63% in 2009. These figures are from a sample of over 250,000 households via face to face in home interviews.

RE: Radio groups plan anti-DAB campaign
OMG, talk about an industry shooting itself in the foot. Looks to me like the big groups are being outthought, outsmarted and outwitted by a group that has less than 1% market share but somehow, is achieving 100% of voice. You have to admire him for that at least. I want to book and plan airtime on a medium that works with a confident plan for the future. Radio competitors will love this, which other medium is killing their own industry with this infighting right now. In my experience, whenever there is doubt about a platform, we guide clients elsewhere. The radio sector is too small for this and their only future is unity at all levels. A public spat about the medium is doing no one any favours at all, least of all the consumer. As someone once said - I can't remember who - "they have snapped failure from the jaws of success". Apologies if I have killed a good quote here. My strong advice to the Radio Centre and UKRD is to do their talking and fighting behind closed doors. We want to be assured of the platform. Looks like outdoor wins again
