RE: Think BR: The Olympics are coming... so sling yer 'ook

I was at the Liberty annual conference last year and this topic came up. When legislation \(passed at around 3am), is described as 'draconian' compared to what the Chinese government passed, you know that it's serious. And that it's likely going to be implemented to the letter...

RE: iPhone hall of shame: top ten banned apps

5 hot young thinkers sit at their mate's place - it's 3am and the night's been wild so far. One of them suggests a 'great idea' and the others nod vigourously in agreement. A week later their boss has approved it. Not strictly true, but marketing is all bollocks - it's great fun though and sometimes, genuinely brilliant ideas can change things. I'm guessing the first baby idea was thought up by someone who's never had a kid!

RE: F1 faces image challenge as Mosley keeps job

Re: Allistar Bevan, you say your an occasional watcher, so F1 hasn't really lost a fan then. A Formula One fan is somebody who never misses a race, gets up at 3am in the morning to watch when the race is in Oz, spends a fortune each year going to Silverstone and then spends another year trying to get out of it, has a subscription to BR's sister publications Autosport and F1 racing, and most importantly hates Ferrari. Now that's a fan. Max Mosley isn't F1, he isn't the boss of F1, he's the boss of the FIA, these national motoring clubs are the equivalent of the AA and RAC in the UK, in fact they both would have had votes on the issue. Sponsors and fans aren't going to walk away because of their opinions, any F1 fan also knew that Mosley was never going to lose his job over it either, even more so that he'd stand down. The background skull duggery of F1 is part of it's charm, a ongoing power struggle, survival of the fittest. This is what this whole affair is about, something unknown probably to the casual fan. All for example Vodafone is bothered with is that the casual fan has a contract with them or a current account with Abbey, (part of Santander naturally). When making that buying decision Max Mosley doesn't really come into the process.

RE: Setanta Sports in three-year boxing deal

Great news for boxing fans who don;t want to shell out on teh full Sky package. My only hope is that we can cut a deal with our American cousins that allows British fans to watch these big fights at a godly hour. It's a sad state of affairs when, as with the recent Maccarinelli versus Haye fight, that two British boxers in a British ring had to fight at 3am, when their biggest fan base is asleep or binge drinking to stay awake. Realise the money's in the US, but surely we could come to some respectable agreement where the fight can be broadcast at midnight, more suiting both sides of the atlantic. Wwe are enjoying a new golden age of British boxing but the fighters will never get the adulation they deserve if only hardcore fans get to watch the fight.

RE: ING launches Renault F1 deal in Second Life

wholeheartedly agree alan. my question is why does a company like ING need it? I'm not sure i understand this trend for 'intelligent' companies like ING, the Money Programme etc to all get into Second Life. i mean TARGET MARKET... it just doesn't work. What benefit is it to ING to raise awareness with a group of people who are happy to spend their lives inside facing their computer til 3am playing with, well, themselves... in a virtual world? or am i just missing the point?
