London Lite increases readership over thelondonpaper

Unlike the Audit Bureau of Circulations figures, which reveal the number of copies distributed, the NRS surveys a panel of more than 36,000 people to find out how many readers newspapers have.

The 12-month data between October 2007 and September 2008 released by the NRS shows that the London Lite has a readership of 1,058,000, a lead of 69,000 over thelondonpaper, which registered a readership of 989,000 during the same period.

While there is not a like-for-like for corresponding 12-month data, the six-month data indicates that the London Lite has further increased its lead over its rival.

Associated-owned sister title the Metro also witnessed a strong increase, with a 26% year-on-year rise to 3,214,000, but its paid-for sister title, the London Evening Standard, fell 13% from 689,000 to 597,000.
