Sky's Rey to join Discovery

 

LONDON - Discovery Networks EMEA has appointed BSkyB executive David Rey as chief operating officer.

Rey, currently business development director at BSkyB, will join Discovery in August.

Rey will report to Arthur Bastings, executive vice- president and managing director, Discovery Networks EMEA, and manage and develop EMEA business portfolio.

Launched in 1989, Discovery Networks EMEA distributes 12 brands to 190 million subscribers in 103 countries, with programming in 24 languages.

During his 12 years at Sky, Rey played a key role in negotiating crucial cable distribution agreements and joint venture business partnerships. He previously held a number of head of finance positions in diverse areas across Sky, including programming and marketing.

Rey began his career at International Distillers as a financial analyst, before moving into the role of strategic development manager working on a number of major brands, including Smirnoff and Bailey’s, across Europe.
