Following the success of the early-round FA cup coverage on ITV.com, the broadcaster signed a rights deal earlier this year to show rugby’s Guinness Premiership highlights on the website.

Guinness is also the ad-funded rugby channel’s sponsor, with ads and Guinness branding appearing on all pages of the channel.

As part of the continued effort to drive traffic to the site in order to hit ITV.com’s targets of £150m in annual online revenue by 2012, the broadcaster aims to make the channel the online home for rugby fans. The new blog is aimed at providing a more personalised voice for the extra coverage.

As well as weekly reports from the scrum-half, Care’s blog will also feature video interviews and insights into life with Harlequins in the Guinness Premiership and internationals with the England team.
