The Lonely Planet Dream Trips and Top Gear Portfolio apps are based on print versions of the magazines and offer users access to additional content such as photography not available in print. Interactive content includes access to Google maps for viewing locations.

The Lonely Planet Dream Trips and Top Gear Portfolio magazines are occasionally published spin-offs of the main titles, showcasing life-style photography and content.

Specialist tour operator Tucan Travel is the solo advertiser featured in both the app and print versions of Dream Trips, the second edition of which was published in autumn 2011. The Top Gear Portfolio app does not include advertising.

BBC magazines Focus, Good Food and The Sky at Night already have iPad apps and Immediate Media plans to roll out further apps for other titles this year..
