Bremend is leaving the Unique Communications'-owned business, which represents major UK media owners including Bauer Advertising, AA Publishing and Glam Media, to join the fundraising team at the Christie Hospital.
Many of his responsibilities will be assumed by Angela Wilkinson, director of media at MSN, who said the company has been developing its management structure for further growth.
An additional appointment to the MSN board is expected to be announced next week.
Bremend joined the company as a sales executive in 1989 after working in regional press and directories. He was appointed to the board four years later and became managing director in 2003.
Operating from Manchester, Media Sales Network employs 20 full-time staff and works across a wide range of advertising and promotional opportunities within the media.
Bremend said: "While I have enjoyed my time in media sales and particularly at MSN enormously, I felt it was time for a change in direction.
"My move to The Christie as legacy officer gives me the opportunity to use my experience in a new and challenging environment within a world-class charitable organisation."
