ESPN lands Setanta's Premier League football rights in £250m swoop

LONDON - ESPN, the Disney-backed sports broadcaster, is to broadcast live English Premier League action in the UK for the first time in its history, after landing the rights to air 46 games for the 2009/2010 season and 23 games in each of the three following seasons. ESPN will launch a new pay-TV channel to air the games after paying a total of around £250m for EPL rights over the next four seasons.
