How to handle a long commute

Q I have just been offered a job that I would like to accept, but I have one problem: I live in north London and the job is in south London. My partner and I are both very happy living where we do and have no desire to move, but the thought of commuting by bus and Tube every day is not a pleasant one. I would spend three-and-a-half hours travelling each day, plus I would have to leave early and return home late.
