Deep cuts at Viacom as 850 jobs axed

NEW YORK - Viacom, the owner of MTV Networks and the Paramount movie studio, is to axe 850 jobs or 7% of its total workforce and impose a pay freeze, as the advertising slump continues to take its toll.
