The publisher developed Total Poker after discovering that poker was a close second behind football as readers' favourite pastime.
Designed and written to look like a mainstream men's monthly, the title will appear with the November issue, which goes on sale on 26 October. It will cover poker strategy and advice for beginners and amateurs. Bound into Maxim's centre pages, it will be one inch smaller than the main magazine and printed on glossier paper.
The launch is the first major addition to Maxim since Derek Harbinson joined as editor in July, and comes ahead of planned changes in the new year.
Total Poker will be produced and edited by staff from Dennis' gambling team and its launch marks the first time that one Dennis division has published regular content for a product in another.
Dennis' gambling division also publishes the older mainstream poker magazine Poker Player and premium title Inside Edge, as well as the broader-pitched Total Gambler and Sportsbook, a title published on behalf of online betting company Sporting Bet.
