LONDON - The Tories have announced they would cut taxes if elected, report today's papers, as the battle for pre-election headlines continues.

The Daily Telegraph focuses on the Tories' plan to block the government's National Insurance rises next year, while The Times says the measure would halve the tax increase.

The Guardian carries an exclusive report on a government plan to give football fans the option of buying their clubs when they are put up for sale. The Independent predicts fox-hunting supporters will try to help the Tories secure marginal seats.

Having brought us Britain's youngest dad, The Sun now gives us Britain's oldest, as Gerry Burks becomes a father at the age of 74, while the Daily Express finds another excuse to put Princess Diana on its cover, again, declaring she was murdered, based on ‘expert opinion'.

Comedian Russell Howard's tour is being promoted in The Guardian, as is the paper's guide to ‘1,000 things for kids to do'.

The Times promotes its ‘Game' pull out on its cover, while the Daily Express offers free Easter leisure activities as the bank holiday approaches.

The Daily Mail is offering ‘tea for two' from £5 at a selection of hotels across the country.
