BSkyB drops publications of Sky Sports and Sky Movies magazines

LONDON - BSkyB is set to cut the number of issues of its Sky Sports and Sky Movies magazines in half from March, when both titles move from monthly to bi-monthly.

The UK’s most widely read movie magazine and most widely read sports publication (NRS estimates) will also be revamped with updated editorial, design and layout in the move.

Sky Movies incorporate a new larger format and expand from 40 to 60 pages. New features will also be included from Sky Movies and cinema releases, plus interviews with the hottest stars from across the pond.

In addition there will be a new at-a-glance genre rating system from Sky Movies premiers to help customers get the most from their subscriptions.

Sky Sports Magazine will increase from 44 to 60 pages from its April issue and offer customers insider access to Sky Sports, including behind the scenes commentary and pictures, features from Sky Sports pundits and expert analysis on forthcoming sporting events.

Exclusive interviews and features on the biggest sports personalities and legends, plus fan profiles, and a centre page pull out sports calendar and poster will also feature regularly.

The overhaul follows last month’s revamp of Sky Magazine, which increased it frequency from 10 to 12 times a year.

In November, Sky Sports magazine ended a three year relationship with the Haymarket Network by bringing its publishing duties in-house.
