News International sells back stake in Globrix to founders

LONDON - The founding management team of property search engine Globrix has acquired News International's 50% stake in the business for an undisclosed sum.

Dan Lee and Ian Parry now own 100% of the business, which launched in the UK in January 2008, after News International made a multimillion-pound investment in late 2007.

Lee said: "We are delighted we have had the opportunity to buy News International's stake in the business.

"This move means they can focus on their core activities and that we can continue to progress Globrix as a technology business and a growing UK property portal.

"We are grateful for the support of News International over the past few years and look forward to continuing to work with them to power The Sun online and The Times online property sections."

News International also used to part-own another property search engine, Propertyfinder, one of the UK's largest property portals.

Zoopla.co.uk acquired PropertyFinder Group from News International and the REA Group, for an undisclosed sum in August 2009.
