MEDIA MOVES: Latest people moves in media

 

Independent News & Media, publisher of The Independent, has appointed human resources executive Declan Carlyle as deputy managing director of its publishing operations in Ireland. Carlyle effectively takes over the responsibilities of Joe Webb, who was recently appointed chief executive of the group's Irish newspaper business.

 

Wired publisher Jamie Jouning has been promoted to the newly created role of publisher of Condé Nast Digital Britain, effective from 1 January. Jouning will be responsible for the commercial operation of the magazine publisher's digital business. Emanuela Pignataro will remain as country director of Condé Nast Digital Britain.

The Newspaper Publishers Association, the trade body for British national newspapers, has made Paul Hayes, managing director of News International Commercial, chairman of its commercial arm, the Newspaper Marketing Agency. Hayes assumes the role from Clive Milner, chief operating officer of News International, who has chaired the NMA for the past two years.

The Internet Advertising Bureau has appointed Publicis Modem's chief strategy officer Tony Effik as its new chair of its social media council. Effik takes over from Lloyd Salmons, founder and chief executive of agency Outside Line.

The Weather Channel Companies has appointed Ross Webster as its managing director of advertising sales for the UK. Webster previously worked at specialist publisher Imagine Publishing, based in Bournemouth.

Samsung Electronics has named Kelly Brittain as senior campaign planning manager. She joins the business from Fosters, where she held the position of global brand manager for Lindemans Wines.
