Under the new contract, the company is developing four scrolling billboards: two for sites at the western entrance to Southampton city centre, close to the West Quay shopping centre, and two at the eastern entrance, near the Itchen toll bridge.
The outdoor group already has one contract for small-format outdoor sites in the city but the street furniture contract is held by Clear Channel Outdoor.
Spencer Berwin, managing director, sales, JCDecaux said the new contract would allow JCDecaux to develop "high-quality advertising in key areas of Southampton".
Berwin said the sites would "enhance the visual environment" and contribute to "shaping the city's image".
JCDecaux's network of scrolling billboards now reaches 11 cities, including London, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield, as well as Southampton.
Earlier this month, the company reported a year-on-year revenue decline, although it saw an upturn in September. Jean-François Decaux, chairman of the executive board and co-chief executive, said although the company anticipated further improvement in Q4, business continued to be volatile.
