Duff, who joined the group as EMEA president of Universal McCann in February 2006, is not believed to have a new job to go to and it is not known if he will be directly replaced.
He has held his group role since January 2008, reporting to Interpublic’s president and chief executive Nick Brien.
Duff started working in the industry with Zenith Media in 1993. He was appointed chief executive of UK & Ireland in 1997 and presided over five years of growth.
He went on to become chief executive of of Granada Enterprises in 2001 and played an integral part in the merger with Carlton and the subsequent creation of ITV plc.

LONDON - Graham Duff, president of Mediabrands EMEA, is stepping down from his regional group role where he is responsible for Initiative and Universal McCann, at the end of the month.
