Chief executive Barry Sayer departs Clear Channel Outdoor UK

LONDON - Clear Channel Outdoor UK chief executive Barry Sayer is leaving the company to join the consortium bidding for Independent News & Media's South African outdoor business.

Sayer is returning to his home country of South Africa after four years in charge at Clear Channel UK.

The company said Rob Atkinson, managing director, will take over day-to-day running of the business while it "considers succession plans".

Sayer will join the Helios Investment Partners-led consortium bid for INM Outdoor, which has been put up for sale as part of a debt reduction plan at the company that publishes The Independent and Independent on Sunday in the UK.

William Eccleshare, president and chief executive of Clear Channel International, said: "We are enormously grateful to Barry for the job he has done in the UK over the past four years.

"He leaves the business in a robust state and has put together an exceptional management team in whom I have great confidence."

Clear Channel Outdoor is the world's largest outdoor advertising company with close to one million advertising display units in 49 countries across five continents.
