With the Premier League kicking off tomorrow (Saturday), Clear Channel said advertisers would be able to choose from multiple small and large formats within one kilometre of Premier League stadia.

Clear Channel said according to TGI figures, the audience profile of people who paid to watch a football match in the past 12 months is 73% male and 27% female, 62% are 44 or younger and 29% earn £40k or more compared to the UK average of 19%.

The outdoor outfit claims more than 13.5 million people visit stadia across the UK.

Its multi-format offering comprises six-sheets, 48-sheets, 96-sheets and Connect phone boxes.

James Fowler, campaign planner, Clear Channel Outdoor UK, said the proximity package "provides a fantastic opportunity" for brands to associate themselves with the new football season.

Surely if you wanted to capture the football fans, you would just advertise in the football grounds? or is that too obvious?

As Robert has said why would you use this form of advertising when you could send multiple messages using the giant screens inside the grounds as a digital billboard? www.thefootballnetwork.co.uk offers this service within the grounds.

I think you need to consider that a brand is not advertising simply to capture the attention of the fans attending a game. They are trying to associate their brand or message with the culture of football or a particular club. Outdoor advertising offers this exposure within the football environment over a pro-longed period of time, as opposed to a 30 second advert seen by a small number of fans attending a particular game.
