Smith will start in his new role on 20 July and will be responsible for the advertising, digital and media strategy of Orange UK, reporting to Spencer McHugh.
Smith joined Orange in 2003 as advertising manager, but later moved to the role of head of media, handling campaigns across all media in the advertising team. He was also instrumental in the appointment of MEC last September to handle Orange's media and buying business.
In September 2008, Smith took on the role of acting head of brand and sponsorship partnerships, where he led Orange's strategy and maintained existing partnerships, including Orange Wednesdays, Orange British Academy Film Awards and Orange RockCorps.
Smith will be replaced in his role of head of brand and sponsorship partnerships by Hattie Magee on her return from maternity leave.
