The app from Absolute Radio, LiveAmp, will showcase premium content from live music events partnered by Absolute Radio, such as the Isle of Wight Festival and Hard Rock Calling. It will be available from the Apple iTunes store for 59p and is the first in a range of smart-phone apps to be revealed by Absolute this summer.
Chief operating officer Clive Dickens said Absolute Radio was looking to find revenue streams that "complement display spot ads".
Although Dickens said he didn't think there would be a "eureka moment", he said Absolute Radio would gradually replace spot ad revenues with more income derived from streams such as "promotion, sponsorship, SMS and ticket sales".
The first version of LiveAmp is not sponsored, but Absolute Radio is now working on version two, which will be able to carry sponsorship.
ITN has launched its second app for iPhone and iTouch users - delivering celebrity, music and film video news. It will be free to download from the iTunes store and will provide made-for-mobile news and interviews with stars from TV, film and music.
ITN's first application, the ITN News app, has run ad campaigns from Microsoft Bing, The Daily Telegraph, T-Mobile and Samsung.
