CNBC to push UK news feed

LONDON - CNBC, the business news broadcaster, is to proactively sell the UK feed of its international news service to media agencies for the first time.

CNBC to push UK news feed

Normally, CNBC's UK presence is a pan-European feed. However, CNBC now has the capability to separate out a UK feed, allowing advertisers to reach national audiences only.

Paul Maraviglia, vice-president and European sales director for CNBC, explained the thinking behind the decision: "We have broken the (European) feed before (into a UK feed), but only on very few occasions, when requested by clients.

"However, this is the first time we have proactively sold this service to media agencies."

Maraviglia added: "We had five or six clients come to us asking for us to break the feed as they only have presence in UK, but want to appeal to an A+ audience. The response has been positive so far and we are at the stage of talking to planners. The deals are packages of spots and sponsorships."

The aim is to attract brands mainly from the financial services, luxury and motoring sectors.

Maraviglia concluded: "We know our product isn't for every brand and out of say 500 brands, we will only attract 5%, but any brand looking to attract a wealthy A+ audience will be interested."
