EBay has hired digital agency Essence to handle its online planning and buying account. The deal also includes working with the online auction houses' long-term media partners, as well as handling its creative advertising.
Torsten Schuppe, marketing director of eBay in the UK, said the agency demonstrated the ability to combine creative ideas in digital media with an analytical approach.
Andy Bonsall, a partner at Essence, added: "We are looking forward to using our media expertise and advanced management tools to help eBay achieve strong return on investment targets - and to take activity to the next level."
Other Essence clients include low-cost ticketing agency Ticket-text and Cancer Research UK.
Earlier this week, eBay launched an international business division to encourage advertisers into taking advantage of the auction site's global reach.
