Yasmin Jetha handed key FT role

LONDON - The Financial Times has promoted chief information officer Yasmin Jetha to the post of chief operating officer, handing her overall responsibility for the newspaper's global strategy.

Jetha will be responsible for streamlining business processes and ensuring further increases in productivity. She will retain her information officer duties.

She will also be responsible for integrating the paper's newly acquired businesses into the FT's existing operations. The FT has made three acquisitions in the last six months, including recruitment website Exec-Appointments and fund management information service Money-Media.

Jetha joined the FT in January 2006 to head up its IT operations. Since then, she has overseen a project to link 24 global print sites to enable the production of seven newspaper editions per day.

John Ridding, FT chief executive, said Jetha would identify opportunities for the paper to become more efficient, in order to free resources for investment into new products.
