Created a year ago when its four founders bought three individual companies, each of which owned four magazines apiece, Factory Media has acquired AdrenalinTrip.net and start-up SurfCore.co.uk.
The combined acquisition price for both websites is understood to be £300,000.
AdrenalinTrip.net is a snowboarding and motocross networking site with more than 100,000 unique users a month, while SurfCore.net focuses on surf forecasting.
Factory Media anticipates expanding the sites' service to a global audience over the next 12 months.
The deals coincide with the appointment of Emap Sport's Salem Lassoued as head of online sales. Previously a digital account manager for Emap - now owned by Bauer - Lassoued will be looking after digital revenues across the company, focusing particularly on consumer ad revenues.
James Carter, director and co-founder of Factory Media, said Lassoued's key responsibility would be building bigger relationships with big companies.
He said: "In the past, we have done deals with companies such as Land Rover, Mercedes, Volvo and Sony, and Salem's brief will be to grow that pool of clients and to grow our core ad market."
Carter, who was formerly publishing director of FHM and publisher of Dennis Publishing's digital magazine Monkey, added that there are a number of acquisitions on the horizon. He said: "These are our first two acquisitions, but we are looking beyond that and will be making more announcements affecting print and online shortly.
"We've seen rapid organic growth in everything we've launched and Salem's appointment is reinforcing that growth."
Factory Media also runs multi-sport portal Mpora.com, which services all its sites and offers television content and photo-sharing.
