Miskin will take control of iVillage’s brand and site development, work to secure new revenue streams and increase visitors to the site.
She will report to iVillage Properties president Deborah Fine. Miskin held several roles at IPC, including international publisher, intellectual property director and business development director for both IPC Electric, the publisher’s arm that explores internet opportunities, and IPC’s digital brands.
IVillage is facing increased competition in the market from current players reinvesting and start-ups looking to make inroads. This month alone has seen Handbag.com relaunch with more video content and social networking tools, while ex-Emap Elan managing director Dawn Bébe’s fashion start-up Osoyou.com went live.
Emap is working on a project to unite content from its stable of women’s magazines, and is working on a separate digital fashion project, although that remains at an early stage.
