He will report to Adam Crow, head of client sales, and will be responsible for working with IT and telecoms clients to develop campaigns across the company's media platforms - The Sunday Times, The Times and Times Online.
Croft joins Times Media from technology magazine and website CIO, which is targeted at business leaders and provides IT analysis aimed at helping them reach their business goals.
His appointment comes alongside the hiring of Neil Crook as Times Media's motors specialist in July.
In his new position, Croft is expected to develop clearer marketing objectives for Times Media clients in order to develop effective strategies across its three media platforms.
Claire Myerscough, Times Media development director, said the appointment reflected the firm's increased offer to clients.
"More and more we are encouraging clients to use us in a multi-platform way and, in doing so, they are getting a powerful platform to the reader," she added.
