Essential drops two TV Hits issues

 

Essential Publishing has dropped two issues of its monthly teenage magazine, TV Hits, after the publisher changed distributor from Marketforce to Comag.

After publishing a bimonthly issue in December, Essential had planned for the title to revert to a monthly frequency from February.

But Comag has confirmed that despite taking on the title from 1 February, Essential would not publish a further title until April, when it would return to a monthly.

The move risks further marginalising the title, which is underperforming in the precarious teenage magazine sector.

TV Hits' circulation fell by almost 30,000 to 54,726 in the January to June ABCs.

Teenage magazines are expected to continue to show circulation decline in the July to December ABCs.
