Time Out seeks sales team to support regional launch

Time Out is looking to appoint a regional sales team, including an ad director and publisher, to support its plan to launch more local editions for the UK.

The publisher will set up a regional sales office, to be situated in or near Manchester, where it is launching an edition - the first UK extension of the magazine outside of London - in March next year.

The team will work with local advertisers and agencies, including regional branches of West End firms, on ads and other commercial opportunities such as sponsorship. The London office will also sell deals for national clients.

Time Out chairman and founder Tony Elliott said the company would launch its third UK edition in Liverpool by September next year, and that people in Birmingham had also approached him.

A one-off Manchester edition was trialled last month, with 30,000 copies distributed around the city. When the title becomes weekly in March, Time Out is aiming for a circulation of between 15,000 and 20,000 copies, half of which will be distributed for free to members of cultural centres and to hotels.

"The idea is for residents of the city to pay for it and visitors to get it for free," said Elliott.
