In his new role, from Thursday (13 July), Anderson Dixon will have responsibility for Trinity Mirror Regionals’ Birmingham and Coventry businesses. The senior teams of both regions will report directly to him.

As a result of the changes, John Griffith, managing director of Birmingham, is retiring from his position and Debbie Davies, managing director of Coventry, will leave the company.

Anderson Dixon left his role as regional managing director of Northcliffe South West and Wales following a restructure in June. In the same move, North East managing director Phil Inman also left Northcliffe.

Inman has since been appointed managing director of the Midlands News Association, publisher of the largest paid-for regional newspaper, the Wolverhampton-based Express and Star, and so will be pitted against his former colleague in their respective new roles.

Anderson Dixon has 30 years' experience in regional media. He joined Northcliffe in 1983 and was managing director at Derby and then at Nottingham, before taking the role of group advertising director in 2002. He was appointed South West regional managing director in 2006.

Georgina Harvey, managing director of Trinity Mirror Regionals, said: "Steve brings with him over 30 years of experience in regional media and I look forward to working with him.

Anderson Dixon said: "The last few years have witnessed huge changes in our industry, but what hasn’t changed is the need to deliver quality reach and response for advertisers through highly regarded and well-respected newspapers and websites.

"I’m therefore looking forward to joining my new colleagues in the Midlands to build on the strong foundations that are already well established."

In a statement, Harvey also thanked Griffith and Davies for their "hard work and commitment to the Midlands businesses" and wished them "all the very best for the future".

This afternoon (11 July), Northcliffe Media announced that Alan Renwick, currently owner of the digital media company Kew Enterprises, had been appointed publisher of Bristol News and Media. The publisher role was created at the same time as Anderson Dixon and Inman's departures.
