Sky’s new channel, which will screen HBO programmes such as 'Mad Men' and the upcoming 'Boardwalk Empire' starring Steve Buscemi, will go live on 1 February.

Absolute Radio has secured a number of promotions. The Absolute Radio 'Geoff Lloyd Hometime' show will offer four listeners the chance to fly "across the Atlantic" to New York where the show will be broadcast live for one week from Monday 31 January.

The four winners will compete against each other live in New York on Friday 4 February for the chance to win an extended stay in the US. The top prize is a VIP experience in New York followed by an all-expenses weekend break in Atlantic City.

Pre-promotion also launched today (19 January) via a Sky Atlantic HD-branded micro site hosted at absoluteradio.co.uk. Listeners will be encouraged to pre-register online and enter the competition.

A separate online competition will also run for the duration of the campaign, offering listeners the chance to win an HD TV and Sky TV with Sky+HD, free for a year, which includes Sky Atlantic HD.

The deal is brokered and managed by publicity company tpf, with MediaCom handling the media planning.

It follows Absolute Radio and Sky's partnership for the launch of Sky 3D in September last year, when the 'Christian O'Connell Breakfast' show, including a live performance by singer/songwriter KT Tunstall, broadcast live from a listener's home.

Bob Suppiah, director of promotions at Sky, said: "We are very excited to be bringing the show across the Atlantic to broadcast from New York and celebrate the launch of the brand-new TV channel Sky Atlantic, the home of HBO.

"This is another first for us with Absolute Radio and we look forward to celebrating this landmark occasion in an exciting way with both the station and listeners alike."

BlackBerry, the mobile devices brand, has also signed a two-year deal to be sole sponsor of Sky Atlantic.
