Sponsored by Littlewoods.com, the two-hour show featuring entertainment royalty such as Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell, took a 25.1% share of viewing from 8pm.
Ratings dipped in its second hour when it was up against BBC One's 'The Apprentice', which scored 6.42 million viewers and a 24% share.
BBC Two and Channel 4 were neck and neck at below two million viewers in the 9pm to 10pm slot.
'Grand Designs' gave the latter 1.67 million viewers (1.89 million including its Channel 4+1 outing) and 'Ancient Worlds' gave BBC Two 1.75 million, including 260,000 viewers on BBC HD.
Five netted 754,000 viewers with 'NCIS', giving it a 2.8% share of viewing in the slot.
