'The A-Team' revives the beloved characters of Hannibal, Murdock, BA Baracus and Faceman from the 1980s US TV action series.

The deal was agreed by Shortlist ad director Chris Healy with the studio's media agency Vizeum.

Terri White, Shortlist editor, said: "We felt we were right on the money with this one, seeing as our reader is a 30- to 31-year-old male and it has got that retro element. We all remember 'The A-Team' being on telly when we were kids.

"The split cover run is special as it's collectable – we've already got readers ringing up saying they have three but need the fourth. I've got visions of 30-year-old men running around London trying to collect the set."

According to ABC figures Shortlist's average circulation in the July to December 2009 period was 513,148 copies, up 1.4% year on year.

Shortlist recorded the highest circulation of the men's lifestyle magazines, ahead of Sport which had a circulation of 306,435.

The magazine with the third highest issue circulation figure and the highest of the paid-for titles in the sector was Men's Health, published by Natmag Rodale, which recorded a figure of 250,577 copies.
