Rolston held the position of global brand director at Cadbury and was responsible for the international brand positioning of Cadbury and Cadbury Dairy Milk.
Rolston joined Cadbury in 2007 in the chocolate bars and drinks division. He held the position of marketing director for Cadbury Dairy Milk before he was promoted to global brand director.
Prior to that, he held roles with Whitbread.
It is understood that Jonathan Dee, who took over the marketing director role on an interim basis, in April this year, is to stay with Muller.
Dee replaced Chris McDonough, who joined Molson Coors, the beer company, in February this year.
Rolston is one of a number of high-profile departures from Cadbury following its takeover by US giant Kraft, including marketing director Phil Rumbol.
Others thought to be leaving Cadbury include Murray McGowan, global commercial strategy director, Sanjay Purohit, Cadbury's Asia-Pacific head for chocolates, and Geoff Whyte, commercial director Cadbury Africa, Middle East.
