ABCe data for November shows Guardian.co.uk increased its worldwide unique user base 12.7% from October, to 35.8 million unique users. This increase was ahead of MailOnline and Telegraph.co.uk, who posted rises of 5.4% and 7.2% month on month respectively.

Guardian.co.uk's growth meant that its worldwide unique user lead over MailOnline was 4.5 million and 4.99 million ahead of Telegraph.co.uk.

News International's newspaper websites posted a mixed November for online traffic.

Times Online's worldwide unique user base declined 1.65% year on year, to 20.9 million, while the unique user base for The Sun Online increased 29% year on year, to 20.2 million.

Mirror Group Digital enjoyed a bumper November, with its worldwide unique users surging 74% year on year, to 10.6 million. In recent months, it has launched a number of new websites including 3am.co.uk and mirrorfootball.co.uk.

Based on UK unique users only, the pecking order of UK newspaper websites remains broadly the same as for worldwide uniques.

Guardian.co.uk is the most-visited, with 12.9 million unique users, followed by MailOnline with 11.9 million and Telegraph.co.uk on 10.4 million.

However, as with most newspaper websites, all three enjoyed a significant boost to their total unique user base from non-UK, or overseas, traffic. Some 22.9 million of Guardian.co.uk's worldwide users log on from outside the UK, while 19.3 million of MailOnline do so.
