LONDON - Jim McDonald, head of broadcast at MPG, has been filming for his appearance in Coronation Street for an episode due to appear on Christmas Eve.

After winning a walk-on part on the show at ITV's advertising gala earlier this year, McDonald travelled to Manchester recently to shoot his scene in the popular soap's pub, The Rovers Return.

McDonald told Media Week: "The cast were all really lovely and a couple of them who had been at the ITV gala event remembered me. I was told to stand in the pub and do what came naturally, while drinking the most watered-down shandy I've ever had.

He added: "My mum is a massive fan and still can't get her head around the fact I am going to be on the show. I am a big fan too, but even if you're not, to have a part in Coronation Street is brilliant because it's just part of the British psyche."
