The activity will occur on Film4 and comprises a themed ad break which will air for the first time on Friday, 19 December, and then twice on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Luhrmann will appear at the start of the special Film4 breaks and introduce several TV ads he has been involved with, including Nicole Kidman's Chanel No 5 ad and the recent Australian tourism commercial. The final spot in each break will feature a trailer for Australia, which opens in UK cinemas on Boxing Day.

The deal was negotiated by Vizeum associate director Mike McCoy and creative solutions director Zoe Schmid, with Jennifer Tang, media promotions manager at 20th Century Fox, and Channel 4's strategic sales manager, David Amodio.

The multi-platform campaign to promote Australia will be backed by editorial support, including a Nicole Kidman week and an early evening season of classic romance and adventures.
