Townend has worked for Virgin Media for eight years, and moved into his current role at IDS last November.

InSkin specialises in placing so-called fireplace ads around online video players - which turn the borders of video players into interactive ads.

He will leave IDS on 23 December and begin in his new role on 5 January. Townend aims to build a commercial team of between 10 and 15 sales executives in his first six months.

IDS is currently recruiting to fill Townend's role.
