Turning Point: Alan Sullivan, sales director, JCDecaux Airport

I took my first steps into media ... in 1995 as a fresh-faced graduate at News Group Newspapers.

After my first lunch with Greg Dolan and Jon Gittings, I realised I had made the right choice of industry and I spent the next five years at The Sun and News of the World.

My career turning point came when I moved into outdoor at JCDecaux Skysites, where I took up the challenge of running my own team.

After taking a three-year break to do an MBA in Sydney and a stint at Mediakeys in Paris, my best career decision was to return to JCDecaux Airport to take up the role of sales director.

Following an approach from managing director Julie France, I was given the chance to be involved in the launch of Terminal 5 and the roll-out of the first national digital out-of-home network, both of which have been a great success.
