Who does what?
The IDS online sales team is overseen by Martin Plant, executive sales director. Sales controllers Steve Doyle and Peter White lead the agency sales teams in the negotiation and delivery of annual revenues, while our third sales controller, Emily Brewer, is responsible for driving audiovisual revenues via the OVA and managing relationships with third-party business clients. Our senior management also includes Glen Duncan, head of ad operations, who develops new technology and innovation in advertising formats and ensures the smooth delivery of ad campaigns.
Who's the biggest character and why?
Steve Doyle, who is constantly cracking (bad) jokes and loves to play cricket (badly) in the office. It's much quieter when he is on holiday.
What's your office atmosphere like?
Frenetic, hardworking and buzzing with a good measure of friendly banter. Chocolate, biscuits and cake are in constant supply for birthdays, engagements, holidays and any other reason we can think of.
What stands you apart from the rest of the industry?
Apart from our charm and good looks, our cross-platform skill-set sets us apart. Through the OVA, we are leading the emerging market in premium online video content, and we are at the forefront of developing innovative ways to engage audiences with brands. Our unique set-up as the online team, fully integrated within IDS, allows us unparalleled access to multi-platform opportunities.
What does it take to get a job in your team?
Ability, passion, knowledge, a thirst for innovation and a hunger for cake.
How are staff encouraged to hit targets?
We have a generous commission scheme that rewards both teamwork and individual performance. We also have a monthly initiative bonus that rewards individuals for implementing ideas that contribute to our success.
Where do you let your hair down?
We are pictured at IDS' recent annual sales conference, which culminated in a black-tie dinner at Kensington Roof Gardens. However, our usual haunts include numerous licensed premises in the vicinity of Great Portland Street, including The Horse & Groom, The Masons Arms and The Crown & Sceptre. Steve Doyle unwinds by singing opera and eating cake.
