Upmarket magazine launched for luxury hotels

LONDON - Specialist luxury and travel publisher Illustrated London News is to launch a quarterly, high-end lifestyle magazine that will be distributed at exclusive hotels around the world.

Sphere magazine will debut tomorrow (20 June) and will feature a mix of culture, travel, and lifestyle news and features.

It will be distributed within hotels such as Orient-Express Hotels and The Dorchester and Claridges in London, along with distribution among travel operators such as Virgin Atlantic and British Airways.

The publisher said Sphere, which will have a circulation of 85,000 copies, will replace its 25-year-old Orient-Express Magazine.

Sphere will be accompanied by the planned launch of a website, spherelife.com.

In January, ILN was acquired by a company backed by Lisa Barnard, the managing director of ILN Group. Barnard, who joined the company in 2000, took a majority shareholding in the new business, Illustrated London News Limited.
