Balderton Capital, the venture capital firm behind Setanta and Bebo, has appointed former Bauer Consumer Media digital chief Dharmash Mistry as partner. During his eight years at Bauer predecessor Emap, Mistry held a range of roles, including managing director of Emap Consumer Media and Emap Performance.
Robert Thomson has been appointed editor-in-chief of Dow Jones and managing editor of The Wall Street Journal. Thomson was appointed publisher of Dow Jones in December 2007, having been editor of The Times since March 2002. Paul Gigot, editorial page editor of the Journal, will assume Thomson's role as The Wall Street Journal's publisher.
Jetix Europe, the Disney-backed kids' broadcaster, has appointed Orion Ross to the newly created position of vice-president original content and creative. Orion will join Jetix Europe this summer. Before joining Jetix Europe, Orion was based in Hong Kong as vice-president, creative and original content for Turner Broadcasting Asia Pacific.
PHD has appointed Hugh Cameron, a director of Freud Communications, as its chief strategy officer. He replaces Louise Jones, who resigned from the Omnicom agency last year.
Don Scales, president of iCrossing, has taken on the additional role of chief executive. Previously, Scales served as president and chief operating officer of the digital marketing outfit.
Rob Grimshaw has been appointed managing director of FT.com. Previously global online advertising director, Grimshaw will be the board representative for FT.com, responsible for its commercial performance and overall strategy.
Andy Baker will join ITV-owned Friends Reunited as managing director. Baker joins Friends Reunited from Trinity Mirror, where he was group director of digital recruitment.
Integrated agency RMG Connect has appointed two new senior planners, Himanshu Rai and Michelle O'Mahoney. Rai joins from The Bank, where he was planning director working primarily on Peroni. O'Mahoney previously held a senior planning role at the Reading Room, where she looked after clients including the COI.
