Insiders' Guide - Getmemedia.com

- Number of people in your team?

We are a dynamic and professional team of six, looking to grow to 10.

- Who does what?

As an online marketing ideas directory, we provide a service for media owners, agencies and clients. Pete Davis, our managing director and brainchild behind the business, heads the team and is the key contact for agencies and clients. Aleck Hornshaw, our commercial director, uses his experience (his background is both agency planning and media sales) to work with media owners to populate the site with great ideas and help maximise their exposure. Sam Ellison, who has bravely moved from client to the service side, manages our sponsors and knowledge zone, Alex Heaton is our new business manager and self-confessed internet guru and Billie Harkess and Natalie Hartley, our execs, make sure everything actually happens.

- Who is the biggest character and why?

A unanimous vote for mad Aleck. Although the oldest member of the team, he's the youngest at heart. Young Alex does come a close second though, with his love of office Olympics and his infamous cardigans.

- What is your office atmosphere like?

Laid-back but industrious (as typified by our managing director turning up to work in his shorts, whatever the weather). There is a real entrepreneurial and team spirit with everyone getting stuck in and with a continuous stream of lively debate about how we are going to change the world (or at least the bit we are working in). Team meetings are held at York City Football Club, so there is always a sporting theme too.

- What stands you apart from the rest of the industry?

The unique service we offer and the support from major industry bodies such as Isba, IPA and leading associative bodies such as the IAB, PPA and Thinkbox. We champion great marketing ideas, providing a central point of reference for agency and marketing teams to view smart ideas and for media owners to get their opportunities viewed by hundreds of key decision-makers. Since we launched in March last year from a standing start, we now work with more than 200 of the industry's leading companies. Perhaps most importantly, we have generated new business and relationships for our clients on all sides.

- What does it take to get a job on your team?

Initiative, energy, curiosity, tenacity and an ability to put up with Aleck's sense of humour.

- How are staff encouraged to hit targets?

As well as a healthy commission structure, the promise of a trip to Ibiza for our end of year team meeting also helps.

- Where do you all let your hair down?

We are lucky enough to have bases in York and London, so nights out vary from cosy country pubs to the latest hot spots in town. We love both as long as they involve alcohol and food.

- Is your team the best in the business?
