Publishing start-up Factory Media has signed James Carter, new product development director for Dennis Publishing, as a founding executive director.
Carter will part company with Dennis by the end of the year, leaving the firm looking for a publisher for its recently launched digital men's weekly Monkey.
The appointment boosts the management team at Factory Media, a new publishing venture specialising in extreme sports magazines and websites.
Factory is the result of a merger between Action Sports Media, Permanent Publishing and 4130 Publishing, and will have a combined staff of 60.
Carter said merging the groups would enable them to benefit from a portfolio sell across 12 monthly magazines and 13 websites and to reach a broader range of mass-market brand advertisers keen to reach 16 to 24-year-old males.
Factory claims it will reach more than 500,000 men in the target group with titles such as skateboarding magazine Kingpin, snowboarding title Whitelines, Surf Europe and mountain bike magazine Dirt.
Darryl Newton, managing director of Action Sports Media, has joined as managing director of the new company.
Alistair Ramsay, a former chief executive of Dennis, has taken a non-executive chairman post, while Matt Fenton, ad director of Action Sports Media, will lead commercial activity across the group.
