The Search Works collects James Villas' holiday work

Search marketing agency The Search Works has won the exclusive pay-per-click account for holiday rental company James Villas, taking the account out of Starcom Digital.

James Villas offers holidays in the Mediterranean, Canaries and Florida. Its media planning and buying will continue to be handled by Starcom UK.

The Search Works recently won two other clients from the digital arms of media agencies: price comparison site PriceRunner from incumbent Media Contacts in September, and Interflora from incumbent I-Level in late August.

Earlier this month, media agency Carat's interactive arm Carat Digital secured the search account for its recent planning and buying win Alliance & Leicester. It also secured the search accounts for existing clients Saga and Asda from search specialist Latitude.

Latitude also has a recent win from a media network however, in gambling company William Hill, from incumbent Ogilvy & Mather. Fellow search marketing specialist Bigmouthmedia recently secured the account for Emap, after working with the magazine publisher on a project basis.

Nick Hynes, chief executive of The Search Works, said he was not concerned about the improvement in the search marketing offering from media agencies and that the future of search marketing agencies looked bright, given the onset of convergence.

"The difference is between getting a good result and getting a great result," he said. "In the future everything will be available through broadband, any TV, film, or music concert, and people will be finding it through a search engine interface.

"It will all happen through search and the person who books your three-by-two bit of space on the Yahoo! portal is not going to be able to deal with all those different categories."
