Rebecca Grey, previously group ad controller for Marks & Spencer magazine Your M&S and Heyday, published on behalf of Age Concern, takes up the new role. She will head a team of 23 ad staff and report to board account director Nikki Hill.
Grey joined Redwood in January last year after nine years at Haymarket, latterly as group ad manager for its consumer magazines.
Previously, Redwood's publishing team handled commercial activity, but with growing revenue streams for several clients, the company has revised its role to focus more closely on client relationships.
Grey said: "Your M&S was starting to attract bigger brand advertisers on the back of recent NRS figures that showed it had 3.9 million readers, making it the widest-read women's lifestyle magazine in the UK."
She added that revenues from high-street retailer Boots, another Redwood client, had quadrupled in the past year due to its expansion online, in direct marketing and through health and parenting members' clubs, and that further channels of communication were in the planning stages. Further commercial appointments are expected.
